Transport Ministry Condemns Houthi Ballistic Missile Attack on Aden International Airport.
The Ministry of Transport strongly condemned the Houthi terrorist militia’s attack on Aden International Airport with two ballistic missiles on Friday evening, marking the second attack within days.
In a statement, the Ministry said the repeated targeting of the airport constitutes a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions protecting airports, civilian facilities and commercial aviation. It also poses a direct threat to air navigation safety and citizens’ right to safe travel.
The Ministry stated that the two missiles fell in the vicinity of the airport. The first landed near the western gate, in the direction of the runway, while the second fell northwest of the airport.
The attack occurred as a Yemenia Airways aircraft, flight IYE 612, was preparing to depart for Cairo and was immediately evacuated. A Fly Aden aircraft, flight QFF101, arriving from Cairo was also in the air at the time.
The Ministry called on the international community, the United Nations and relevant international aviation organizations, particularly the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to condemn the attacks and ensure accountability for those responsible in accordance with relevant international laws and conventions.
It reaffirmed that Aden International Airport is a civilian facility serving the Yemeni people and stressed that attacks on civil airports endanger passengers and aviation crews, disrupt air transport and worsen the humanitarian and economic suffering of Yemenis.
