Speaker of Parliament praises Britain's role in support of Yemeni people
Speaker of Parliament Sultan al-Barakani praised the key role of the Great Britain in supporting the legitimate Yemeni government headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi; appreciating British efforts to support the efforts to make peace, end the coup and establish safety and stability in Yemen. Al-Barakani's remarks came as he met Monday with British Ambassador to Yemen Michael Aron. The session aimed to discuss the latest developments about the situations in our country and the efforts aiming to achieve peace in Yemen to end the suffering of the Yemeni people. The meeting also touched upon the developments about Riyadh agreement to contain the crisis the country has seen in the wake of the recent events in the southern provinces. The Speaker of Parliament underscored the significant role of the UK in contributing towards solving the Yemeni crisis. He stated that the political leadership headed by President Hadi, Parliament and government are very keen on pushing peace drive ahead in order to put an end of the Yemeni people's ordeal caused by Houthi militia's coup. Al-Barakani highlighted the great efforts by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to contain the crisis in the southern regions and to establish peace in Yemen. The British diplomat noted that it is very important to get the parliament resume its sessions, exercises its role in politics and supervision at this stage. He underlined the importance of the government return to the temporary capital Aden. Mr Aron stated that Riyadh's agreement is a significant step on the path of establishing the comprehensive peace and political process in Yemen.
